Because of her background as a journalist and an NYPD sergeant, Andrea Herzberg developed an ability to gather intelligence quickly and run with it. That skill came in handy when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer when she was just 39. “When I was 39, I was mid-career, mid-marriage, beginning motherhood … it’s devastating to hear the word cancer for anybody I think,” Andrea says. “But when you have a cancer that, euphemistically is challenging because it’s almost always diagnosed late, it’s quite devastating.”
However, like so many of the inspiring survivors in the SurvivorNet family, Andrea didn’t let that devastation get in the way of her life, or her career. “When you’re called upon to be a professional you can’t just fall apart.”
