Unfortunately, cancer treatment often affects how people look. Whether its losing your hair because of chemotherapy, or scarring because of surgery – dealing with physical side effects is tough, and often takes a lot of getting used to.
Two-time cancer survivor Bianca Muniz says that adjusting to how cancer treatment altered her appearance was really hard for her initially. Bianca is a singer, she’s on stage in front of people all the time. So changes to her physical appearance were something she really struggled with. “Once I started treatment, I started getting these really bad breakouts on my face … I tried all these different skin regiments to try to make it better, and I made it worse,” Bianca says. “I’m a performer, I am on stage performing in front of people … so that was very hard for me to get over. It took a long time for me to finally feel OK about it.”
