“The treatment for metastatic prostate cancer has dramatically improved over the past 10 years,” says Dr. David Wise, a medical oncologist at NYU Perlmutter Cancer Center. The standard of care is androgen deprivation therapy. However, Dr. Wise says newer medications like abiraterone (Zytiga) are being added to boost the effect and delay the cancer from progressing.
