When women start having sexual intercourse again after ovarian cancer treatment, sometimes some pain or discomfort is involved because of vaginal dryness or some other side effects. Using lubricants is one of many methods women can use to make intercourse more enjoyable.
There are many different types of lubricants available. Doctors who treat women with ovarian cancer often have samples of different lubricants their patients can try, or can recommend a specific type or brand. Dr. Melissa Moffitt, a gynecologic oncologist at OHSU Health in Portland, said that women may even want to try heading to a sex shop — noting that many female sex-positive shops will have people on staff who are very helpful and knowledgable about the best products for people looking to get their sex lives back after cancer.
