You can have sex during ovarian cancer treatment, but there will be specific points during the treatment process where doctors recommend that you do not. After surgery, for example, doctors recommend refraining from vaginal intercourse for around six weeks.
Six weeks after surgery, many women will have already started getting chemotherapy. Dr. Melissa Moffitt, a gynecologic oncologist at OHSU Health in Portland, told SurvivorNet that it is safe to engage in sexual activity after those six weeks are up — but many women undergoing chemotherapy do not feel up for intercourse.
